Alternative History of Newcastle: The Suffrage Movement Talk

Tickets available from

Facing smears in the press, the hostility of government, and often even the English weather, women fighting for suffrage in the Edwardian north east had the odds stacked against them. Find out about some of them, the wide range of tactics they used (from costumed parades and meetings at Fenwicks to arson and window smashing), and the risks they ran.

The talk takes place in the Harbottle Suite of The Black Gate. Doors will open at approximately 5.30pm, with the talk starting at 6pm.

Reasonably priced refreshments will be available for all your sweets and drink needs. We aren’t a licensed venue, so for this event there will be no sale of alcohol.
