How To Be A Marxist (A Talk By Martin Hägglund

If this life is all there is, what should we do with it? Yale philosopher Martin Hägglund will consider some of the deepest questions of existence, arguing that only by stripping away their subtle illusions can we discover the true value of our earthly freedom.

Through revelatory engagements with some of history's greatest philosophers, from Aristotle to Marx, Hägglund will explore the idea of existence a collective project: everything is at stake in what we do together, and no victory can survive us.

With his new book, This Life, earning a rave review from no less a figure than James Wood in the New Yorker, Hägglund has been hailed by Richard Klein as “the most important young philosopher in the United States.”
