The Late Shows

As part of The Late Shows – NewcastleGateshead's annual late-night culture crawl – climb to the rooftop and marvel at the best views in town, including the modern cityscape, Central Station and iconic Quayside. En route you will pass through the Great Hall, which was used for meetings, audiences and other grand occasions.

Visitors can also choose to experience the lower storeys of the Keep by watching a candlelit promenade performance of Hamlet (The Edited Highlights). In the 1700s part of the Castle was used as a theatre, and played host to Newcastle’s first recorded Shakespeare performance! A guide will lead you from room-to-room, where you will witness scenes performed by Heaton-based Catch a Pig Theatre Company. Performances take place at 7pm, 8pm, 9pm and 10pm and last approximately 25 minutes. Tickets will be made available via this webpage on Wednesday 19 April at 10am.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the building, tonight’s events are not accessible to wheelchair users.
