Times & Costs

Newcastle Castle will be closed to the public on 6 and 13 March 2017, to allow for renovations to be carried out.

The Castle will also be closing early on 7-12 March at 4pm, with last entry at 3.15pm. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. 


The Castle is open on a daily basis, 10am till 5pm, with some exceptions during the festive period. Last entry is at 4.15pm and tickets can be purchased from the Black Gate, the Castle's newly renovated 13th century gatehouse (please note: tickets are no longer available to buy from the Castle Keep). Tickets operate at the following prices and last for the entire day...

Members of the Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne are entitled to one free ticket, upon presentation of their membership card. Foster families and families of children with additional needs are entitled two complimentary child tickets, upon presentation of a Max Card.
