Marketing and Events Officer

£19,000.00 per annum, pro-rata. 30 hours per week, 18-month fixed term contract. Some evening and weekend work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic marketing & events professional in the early stages of their career to work in a fast paced, quirky, novel and fun environment, supporting the Development Manager to develop one of the region’s most historic and iconic venues and re-establish it as part of the life-blood of the city and the region. No two days are the same and we pride ourselves on that.

Responsibilities include:

• Working with the team to devise a marketing plan for 2018 to support the emerging business areas and the overal strategic plan and objectives. Especially to raise general awareness about Newcastle Castle and identify and implement ways to target potential local, regional, national and international paying visitors

• Maintaining and developing exisiting social media channels utilising them to their full potential to market the different strands of the business

• Inputing into annual budget development

• Working with the team to develop ideas for novel and quirky events as well as sustaining a programme of events for film nights, talks and lectures which have proven very successful in the past.

• Seeking to establish a programme of small but intimate gigs that continue the novel and quirky theme established in the film nights, talks and lectures.

• Working with the Learning Officer to establish novel and quirky one-off events for families.

• Managing staff and volunteers in a supervisory capacity to deliver the programme of above events whilst also managing a small team of in-office volunteers.

• Identifying good PR opportunities and make the most of them with your network of media contacts, whilst maintaining already well established media relationships

• Working with the Development Manager to identify strategic opportunities for marketing directly to tourists coming into the area e.g. DFDS Seaways, Virgin etc.

• Supporting the marketing of split income events where we work in partnership with the hiring company.

- In delivering the programme of small events there will be need to occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays
