3 Orders.jpg

Designed especially for Key Stage 3 pupils studying the medieval period, this workshop looks at the feudal system, the role of the Church and Crown in medieval life and day to day life in medieval times. It would also be suitable for Key Stage 4 students covering the reign of Edward I for a history GCSE.

The workshop takes place in the Harbottle Suite in the Black Gate. This is an indoor classroom with two toilets (one accessible) and heating. It lasts approximately 90 minutes, though this can be varied if necessary to fit your needs. A shorter session of 60 minutes is also quite common.

  • Handling session with real and replica artefacts looking at aspects of medieval daily life.

  • Equipping a soldier - a look at laws around military service in medieval England, one of the class is equipped as a medieval foot soldier.

The development of Church, state and society in Medieval Britain 1066-1509, local history, reflective learning, team working, effective participation, independent enquiry, communication, fun and enjoyment with others, community understanding
