FAQs

  • What are your opening hours?
We are open 7 days a week April - October, and we close Tuesday & Wednesdays in November - March. We are open 10am - 5pm, last entry is at 4pm. You are welcome to explore the Castle Keep until 5pm but the Black Gate shuts at 430pm.

Yes. There are two receptions, one in the Castle Keep and one in the Black Gate. Tickets will get you into both buildings, regardless of where they’re purchased.

The Black Gate is fully accessible with an external lift. The Castle Keep is a Scheduled Ancient Monument with several upper storeys which unfortunately are not accessible to wheelchair users.
