“I just wanted to say thank you so much to you and Daniel for the excellent session you delivered for the Year 8’s today. They were really engaged and interested and it has been a brilliant way to kick off their local heritage project.”

Year 8 Teacher

Pupils can benefit from trips to historic sites at every level of their education. A visit to Newcastle Castle will help pupils develop a deeper understanding of history and of their place in it and will put what you teach about in the classroom into context.

Our dedicated learning team can provide a cost effective way of engaging your students with history and firing their enthusiasm through a range of workshops, activities and learning resources.

These include workshops tailored to specific aspects of the curriculum, but we are always open to assisting with special visits and unique projects of your own devising.

We can tailor the length and content of visits to suit you, within our opening hours of 10am - 5pm. We can offer both guided tours of the Castle (60 or 90 minutes) and a range of workshops to make a longer visit covering specific topics (see below).

Indoor lunch space is available in the Black Gate, and we even supply teas and coffees for teachers!

We also offer a range of outreach sessions on a variety of historical topics that can be delivered in your classroom.

Prices

Full day visit (tour and workshop): £7 per pupil

Half day visit (tour or workshop): £3.50 per pupil

Self-led visit (entry to castle only): £2.50 per pupil

Use of the lunch room is included in a full day visit. For half day or self-led visits, there is a charge of £30 per day for use of the lunch room.
